• Please discuss the budget and application process with your department administrator. He or she has been trained by the Research Office to assist you.

• Write your application for the educated layman, i.e. people with a college bachelors degree or greater should be able to understand what it is and how you will study a subject.

• Know your application review committee, contact the funding agency and see who will review your application.

• Contact your Associate Dean for Research Office, University Contracts and Grants, and consider the budget when your research proposal begins! Budgeting issues can stop funding and prevent a proposal from leaving campus, even with the best of research ideas.
