student research
It is part of the mission of the CHM Research Office to facilitate opportunities for all CHM students and residents to explore and engage in research and scholarship. Why?
- A basic understanding of the principles of good research will help medical students and residents become better physicians.
- Research experience can give medical students a competitive edge in the residency selection process.
- Most residency programs now have a research requirement.
- A vital academic research institution has a responsibility to train the next generation of medical scholars.
- It is successful insofar as it embraces the long tradition of research being conducted by dynamic teams made up of faculty investigators, graduate assistants, students, research coordinators, administrators, and other staff.
We therefore aim to facilitate…
- opportunities for mentored experiences in basic, translational, clinical, or other types of research
- fulfillment of the MD Block III requirement of research and scholarship
- summer fellowships and research electives
- referrals to joint MD/PhD, MD/MPH or other dual degree programs as well as programs and research opportunities in COM, CVM and other MSU units.
- Your involvement in research governance and program and resource development.
We want to hear from you. Whether it is to get involved in research or to become part of building research resources in CHM – let us know what you need and think. All questions and suggestions are welcome. Contact us at chmresearch@hc.msu.edu.
