About US

Welcome to the College of Human Medicine's Office of Research web site. We hope you find this site helpful and informative. We have recently added a grant opportunities section to our website. It features information on HHS, DoD, and NIH grant opportunities.

As a community-based medical school, one goal of CHM is to conduct collaborative, multidisciplinary and multi-community research that takes advantage of our unique distributed campus system. Our focus is on both clinical research that can be practically applied as well as the critical research in the basic science departments affiliated with CHM (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Pharmacology, and Physiology) on mechanisms underlying human diseases, and their integration.

Our Mission: To promote and support health and biomedical research, infrastructure, and culture within the CHM campus system and collaborative research across disciplines, departments, colleges, campuses, and communities.

Our Philosophy: Research is an important and integral component of CHM. It informs and transforms our teaching and clinical environment into one where knowledge is used and disseminated but also actually produced. It keeps us on the leading edge of medicine and as active participants in advancing the prevention, control, and treatment of diseases.
